ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ at Geauga doubled its video conferencing rooms, also known as βZoom Rooms,β before the fall semester due to the demands of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Zoom Rooms are designed to serve various purposes and room configurations for faculty and students, and they were recently featured in an article by EdTech.
Lance Williams, director of operations and special projects at ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ State Geauga, describes the rooms as a βmulti purposeful, hybrid-flexible solution.β Williams told EdTech that instructors might use a Zoom Room to record an asynchronous lecture, to teach in real time or handle daily business.
Williams said Zoom Rooms are cost-effective for the campus and more accessible for students who cannot attend in-person lectures.
βTheyβve made it easier for us to connect with our affiliate regional campuses whenever weβd normally be meeting as a group,β Williams told EdTech.
Williams believes the Zoom Rooms are valuable because of the connections they foster between students and faculty during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also indicated that ΒιΆΉΣ°ΤΊ State Geauga is looking into building additional Zoom Rooms.
