Honors College helped recent graduate John Comi build a sense of community as well as meet his financial obligations. 

�鶹ӰԺ will be closed July 4 to observe Independence Day. No classes are scheduled on the holiday, and university offices are closed. The university will resume normal operations on July 7.

�鶹ӰԺ State Youth Winds had the unique opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. this spring, giving meaningful performances alongside famous monuments and making lasting connections with renowned musicians.

 Once her degree is complete, junior Honors College nursing student Rylie Lapikas likely won't need to wait long to start her career. Ninety-nine percent of �鶹ӰԺ State nursing students are employed within six months of graduation.

A Mantua woman who worked at �鶹ӰԺ State in the Office of the President from 1951 to 1971 recently celebrated her 110th birthday. She recalls her time at �鶹ӰԺ State and shares a few reflections from her long life. 

Water flowed for the first time in the newly completed Crawford Fountain in the courtyard outside Crawford Hall, home of �鶹ӰԺ State's Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship. 

The Crystal, a three-story, glass atrium and entrance to the Akron Art Museum, provided the perfect backdrop for these diamonds in the rough, a coming-of-age collection manifested in the proud work of multi-talented, middle and high school students from Akron participating in a program designed to illicit self-expression through poetry, art and virtual reality.

The �鶹ӰԺ Museum presents its summer exhibition titled “Sparkle: The Style and Jewelry of Aileen Mehle.” In honor of the �鶹ӰԺ Museum’s 40th anniversary, this exhibition pays tribute to Aileen Mehle, a friend of the museum founders and widely syndicated society columnist. 

A group of school administrators from Brazil recently completed the 10-day Design Innovation Change Agent Workshop at �鶹ӰԺ’s Design Innovation Hub, where they immersed themselves in design innovation techniques as they endeavor to innovate their school system at home.

�鶹ӰԺ State Opera Theatre's spring production featured scenes from a selection of famous operas with themes both natural and supernatural. 

The �鶹ӰԺ Board of Trustees approved the establishment of two new schools – the School of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering – within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held June 25, 2025, on the �鶹ӰԺ Campus.

Three friends who attended schools together their entire lives, beginning at �鶹ӰԺ State’s Child Development Center, have graduated together in �鶹ӰԺ State’s spring Class of 2025. Now, they are contemplating where their post-graduate lives will take them and how they will maintain their close friendship. 

Eleven �鶹ӰԺ students are taking part in the university’s Brain Health Research Institute Undergraduate Fellows Program for Summer 2025.

�鶹ӰԺ State's College of Aeronautics and Engineering led a fun, immersive field trip for a group of sixth graders from the I Promise School, Akron Public Schools.

�鶹ӰԺ State's fourth annual Juneteenth Jubilee welcomed the community to celebrate the rich history of Black Americans with live music, dance performances, food trucks, vendors and more. 

Fueled by resilience and a hunger to learn, 2019 �鶹ӰԺ graduate Ya’el Courtney has transformed adversity into ambition, carving a path for herself that took her from foster care to post-doctoral scholar at Stanford University.

�鶹ӰԺ State's mascot, Flash the Golden Eagle, joined a group of other well-known local and national mascots to celebrate the 100th birthday of Goodyear's iconic blimps. 

Elisa Grecar and her daughter Maddie McGee made a meaningful memory this May when they graduated together from �鶹ӰԺ – Grecar with a degree in psychology and McGee with a degree in zoology.
