�鶹ӰԺ President Todd Diacon offered graduates an unconventional yet powerful message during the August 2025 commencement ceremony, weaving together personal experiences, a global perspective and practical wisdom in an address focused on resilience, empathy and maintaining a healthy perspective throughout life.

Emilia Colosimo, a �鶹ӰԺ at Trumbull nursing student from Newton Falls, spent two and a half life-changing months in Florence, Italy, this summer, thanks to the university’s education abroad program.

After planning and supporting hundreds of ceremonies and events at �鶹ӰԺ State, Lisa O'Connell, director of University Events and Protocol, got a graduate's-eye-view of summer commencement ceremonies as she walked the stage to receive her graduate degree as part of �鶹ӰԺ State's Class of 2025. 

The �鶹ӰԺ alumni family grew by more than 1,000 new graduates from its eight-campus system across Ohio as the university held its summer commencement ceremony. The accomplishments of the Summer Class of 2025 were recognized with a commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. on Aug. 9. 

Olivia Jákli earned a master's degree in computer science in 2024 after initially earning a bachelor's degree in fashion merchandising in 2015. She recently encouraged others to embrace calculated risks by sharing insights from her career transition journey.

This summer, a group of �鶹ӰԺ State students enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime education-abroad experience in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. 

Acclaimed New York fashion designer Christian Siriano told �鶹ӰԺ School of Fashion students to practice their craft with dedication, accept criticism and learn from it, but to remember that they will never please everyone.

Honor is not only an attitude; it’s an action. As it is given and received, it profoundly improves the lives of all involved.

"School of Rock: The Musical" by Andrew Lloyd Webber runs from July 18 through Aug. 3 at �鶹ӰԺ State's Porthouse Theatre. 

�鶹ӰԺ alumnus Antonio Gates was officially enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Aug. 2, delivering an emotional speech that highlighted his years as a Golden Flash and thanked the coaches who helped launch his improbable journey from college basketball to NFL stardom.

The LeRoy Neiman and Janet Byrne Neiman Foundation is thrilled to announce “LeRoy Neiman: A Keen Observer of Style,” opening at �鶹ӰԺ Museum on Oct. 24, 2025. 

The Mathematical Sciences Building reopened Aug. 6. following a basement fire the week prior.  Six local fire departments responded after a transformer began smoking.

As part of the �鶹ӰԺ Museum's 40th Anniversary celebration, the museum will display the exhibition "Sparkle: The Style and Jewelry of Aileen Mehle" in its Higbee Gallery from July 18, 2025, through Aug. 23, 2026. 

Two �鶹ӰԺ alumni will be in the spotlight this week as the Pro Football Hall of Fame celebrates its Class of 2025, with Antonio Gates set for enshrinement Saturday and Mary Kay Cabot receiving prestigious recognition for her four decades of sports journalism excellence.

Dedicated in April 2015, The Student Memorial Garden on Manchester Field was created as a place of reflection and remembrance of all �鶹ӰԺ State students who have died. 

Copley High School senior Grant Hyne developed Hammock Hangout on the �鶹ӰԺ Campus as part of an Eagle Scout service project.

Orange barrels will soon appear on a three-quarter-mile stretch of Ohio Route 59/East Main Street that runs through �鶹ӰԺ’s Front Campus, marking the start of a three-year construction project to make the thoroughfare safer and more attractive.
